Isn’t it fantastic that Northern Ireland has produced one of the most successful British TV actors in decades — and he’s such a sweet guy too.
Yes, Jimmy Nesbitt’s done alright for himself and I’m always pleased to see the increasingly impressive Ciaran McMenamin on telly, but Armagh’s Colin Morgan — the 23-year-old baby-face who plays the lead in the BBC’s Merlin — has gone one better than any of them.
Now that NBC has bought the rights for Merlin, making it the first British drama for 30 years to be shown on American network TV, Colin’s a big star in America. David Tennant would kill for that kind of exposure but as far as the States goes, he’s still stuck on cable channel BBC America.
